TDK Mediactive and AC Cars, Britain’s oldest sports car brand, have concluded an agreement to feature one of the world’s most famous sports cars in the racing game World Racing 2. The famous 1960's AC Cobra will enhance the variety of car models in the game and offer the experience of an authentic piece of sports motoring history. World Racing 2 will put the fun of driving at centre stage and offer optimised arcade racing characteristics, a rich and varied range of mission modes, lively scenarios, enhanced tuning options and a great variety of integrated cars.
Alan Lubinsky, Chairman of AC Motor Holdings Ltd., said: “We are impressed by the technology of World Racing 2. The game makes it possible to visualize the Cobra in a virtual environment achieving an impressive level of detail and also delivers an authentic representation of the Cobra’s performance and driving characteristics.”
“AC is steeped in motorsport history and any AC positively resonates with the echoes of racing glory,” commented Heiko tom Felde, Director of TDK Mediactive. “Hand built by AC's craftsmen the Cobra has an almost brutal charisma, its classic elegance audaciously emphasizing its electrifying performance. Gamers will love to test drive this legendary sports car icon.”
The AC brand has been continuously producing high-performance sports cars since 1901. It carries prestige and international recognition alongside other top sports cars. AC Cars Manufacturing Ltd. and its associated company, AC Advanced Vehicle Technology Ltd., have recently started operations in Malta, where the company will be producing a new range of cars for sale in the USA, UK, Japan, Australia and other European countries. Production of chassis and bodies for the aluminium Shelby AC products is well underway in the UK. These chassis and bodies are still produced to original specification off the original jigs and tooling.
World Racing 2 is being developed in the studios of racing software specialist Synetic. The game is currently scheduled to be released in 2005 for Xbox, PC and PlayStation2.
